| Part of the 1967 NHL expansion, the Philadelphia Flyers quickly established themselves as one of the stronger of the new teams in the NHL that year. The team’s foundation was two young goaltenders: Bernie “Only the Lord Saves More than Bernie” Parent and Doug Favell. They finished first in the Western division that first season, the beginning of an impressive NHL presence. In the 1969-70 season a shift in management and players established the team as “The Broad Street Bullies”. The team was rewarded in both 1974 and 1975 with Stanley Cups. |
