| First the Kansas City Scouts, then the Colorado Rockies, the team was eventually purchased by Dr. John McMullen and moved to New Jersey IN 1982, becoming the New Jersey Devils. They scored their first goal on October 2, 1982 in a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. In 1985 the Devils won their first Stanley Cup, winning against the Detroit Red Wings with coach Jacques Lemaire behind bench. In the next eleven seasons the Devils missed the playoffs only once. Eventually they won a second cup in the year 2000 with a six game series against the Dallas Stars. In 2003 the NJ Devils did it again, playing an exciting seven game series against the Anaheim Mighty Ducks that would result in the Stanly Cup for the New Jersey Devils. |
