NHL Columbus Blue Jackets
The Columbus Blue Jackets played their first game on October 7, 2000 against the Chicago Blackhawks with a sellout audience at Nationwide Arena.
The name Blue Jackets and their jersey salutes Columbus’ contributions to the Civil War, both through their contribution to the Union Army and the manufacturing of their Blue Uniforms in Ohio. Thirteen stars on the jersey represent the thirteen states of the union at that time, with patriotic red, white and blue fusing the dynamic team jersey with the present.
