| In 1980 the Atlanta Flames were relocated from Georgia to Calgary, Alberta in Canada. The flaming ‘A’ for Atlanta was replaced by a flaming ‘C’, and the soon beloved team quickly settled in to their new home at the Calgary Saddledome. In 1989, the ninth year of an eleven year Stanley Cup playoff run, the Flames won the coveted Cup with a team that included Rick Wamsley and Mike Vernon as goalkeepers. Other players included Dana Murzyn, Gary Roberts, Gary Suter, Mark Hunter, Joe Nieuwendyk, Joel Otto, and head coach Terry Crisp. |
