NHL Atlanta Thrashers
The Atlanta Thrashers were a NHL expansion franchise awarded to Georgia in 1997. They played their first home game at Philips Arena on September 18, 1999. The team’s logo is a flashy, modernized brown thrasher, the state bird of Georgia.
The franchise is owned by a division of Turner Sports, Inc. and a wholly owned subsidiary of Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., a Time Warner company.
